This project is based on the DC Comics trio; The Gotham City Sirens. Cat Woman, Harley Quinn, and Poison Ivy are the three apart of the group. It's a sparse market for the Sirens. So, I chose to make shirts and illustrate them as simplified vector illustrations.
In this mood board, I included typography and illustration inspiration. In the middle, there are some key colors that will be used throughout this project.
For the "Gotham City" I went for a less refined look. Emulating street graffiti or blood running down a wall. The "Sirens" part of the job was more technical.
I wanted a Gothic/Victorian look with sharp edges. The duality of the fonts were to show the duality in the Sirens.
I wanted her font to be like a scratch mark as I was inspired by previous renditions.
The last iteration scrapped the scratch idea. I went another
direction and distressed the font.
Since poison ivy is a prickly plant in character and in real life, I channeled that for the font. I had trouble perfecting it, but I soon got it to a decent point.
With all three created, I completed the rest of my project!
