Inspiration/Concept:
The table is inspired by the beauty found in the domes in mosques and the wonderful details found in the Islamic pattern. The idea is to make the dome in mosques inverted so that you can see it while looking down and not up. The attached picture is of the Ahmed Al-Mehmendar Mosque, and it is a picture of the entrance to the mosque with making a pattern inside the dome, and at the same time on the level surface, and this wonderful design is the one through which I was able to reach my Arabic coffee table.
Design Process:
The design was part of a workshop organized by Pinocchio Furniture Company and the School of Designers of Egypt and Mamlouk. The aim of the workshop is to design furniture pieces inspired by Islamic patterns, especially from the Mamluk era, and at the same time suitable for current tastes.
