A new urban plan for Nieuw - Mathenesse Marconiplein - former shipyard site in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The project assumes keeping functioning local companies, developing new initatives e.g. “city farm” and introducing new commercial and service functions, building single-family houses and appartments and founding agriculture faculty in the former office buildings (3 skyscrapers).

 

The idea bases on maximazing integration of citizens with water by creating districts with its own marinas
at the waterfronts, watersports centres for children, students and adults – providing kayaks, yachts, windsurfing etc. We bring water inside the land, creating zones of safe shallow water (combined with natural water purifying system and a park on the water), semi-deep and deep areas of water.

 

Whole complex of pedestrian and water paths filled with plenty of diverse services and functions creates interesting, lively place with immensity of possibilities for citizens and turists.
