Previous book covers by the author had very uniform look, which is great for branding. However, he requested an out-of-the-box approach for this one; more colour, more casual, more eye catching.

 

While it is a collage of miserable things, I didn't want it to be depressing, but rather empathetic and to rather show that everyone will experience misery in life; some of the misery more devastating than others. By being more colourful than the usual black with foiling that the author had gone for, I hoped it would both stand out and sell its contents well.
