This book cover design is my entry for 'The Penguin Design Awards' – specifically 'The Puffin Children’s Prize' which is a competition where students are invited to design a whole new cover look for The Outsiders, in order to bring this classic to a new generation of readers, ensuring that this timeless story remains an integral part of every teenager's bookshelf. 

 

In my design I depicted the main character after he had gone through a powerful transition. This change in his lifestyle and beliefs meant he no longer felt at home with those around him - thus making him an outsider.
