"Above the Palm Trees" is an animation film, which tells the story of Abodi Darvish, my grandfather, who remembers his childhood in Baghdad, his attempt to escape to Israel and the imprisonment imposed on him. Aboudi Darwish, whose name was changed in Israel to Oded Dror, founded a Judaica factory with his brothers that prospered, until cheap alternative Chinese products appealed to the clients of the small factory causing it to shut down, like many small workshops that disappeared with mass production.
"Above the Palms" brings the memories, some of which my grandfather told me, and some of which are too difficult for him to talk about.
