I began by sketching them on paper using Ecolin, carefully crafting individuals of diverse genders and races. My intention was to create a captivating pattern that would symbolize equality. Within this artwork, I depicted both men and women alongside various animals and plants, all positioned on an equal footing. Through my creation, I sought to convey the message that regardless of our differences, we are inherently equal in value and importance.
After completing the initial sketches with Ecolin, I embarked on the process of recreating them digitally. With careful attention to detail, I made slight modifications to some of the sketches to enhance their visual appeal. Ultimately, my objective was to prepare high-quality designs suitable for digital printing. Utilizing vector graphics, I meticulously transformed the illustrations into a format ideal for creating seamless patterns. This meticulous approach ensured that the final designs would be well-suited for digital printing, enabling me to produce visually captivating and professionally crafted artworks.
In these designs, you'll find a recurring motif: a checkered pattern and the color orange. By deliberately incorporating this symbol into each design, I aim to highlight its significance. This symbol represents an essence that is shared by plants, animals, and humans alike. It serves as a powerful reminder of the inherent equality that exists among all beings, transcending our apparent differences. Through these designs, I seek to celebrate the unity we share, emphasizing the common thread that binds us together, irrespective of our individual characteristics or species.
I created these patterns using Photoshop.
Then I tried to showcase them on various textiles and items. I fell in love with these patterns and symbols, and I believe that designing and creating patterns should not be solely an artistic endeavor but can also serve as a social and cultural undertaking. I envision customers who purchase these products having a thorough understanding of the significance behind the design. This realization fills me with joy, as it highlights the increased importance of my work compared to before.
