Vanilla Extract Label Redesign

[Personal Project] Label redesign for a vanilla extract bottle. The brand has been on the market for a long time and this type of product is a classic in a baker's kitchen. That is why I focused my approach on giving the label a design that is trustworthy, clean and pleasant to the eye.

The purpose is to achieve a vintage look to a well known, most used item in every baker’s kitchen. The challenge is to make it stand among products that already look the same. My proposal includes the following changes:

Colour division. Kept the colour division but it’ll only be visible for the elements on the sides of the bottle.

Boxes. Changed several separate boxes surrounding individual texts to a single big box that contains all the front elements.

Polka dots. Changed the disposition of the dots from background pattern to a stylised border for the box, which resembles to a post stamp now.

Dessert photography. Even though it is common practice, I consider this an outdated practice. That’s why instead of a photograph, I decided to include an illustration. In this case the vanilla bean and flan becomes vanilla beans and flowers.

Conclusion. The elements from the old design competed for attention against each other, while the redesign focuses on the title and the illustration. In a supermarket shelf, these elements will allow the product to be seen and interpreted from the distance by the customer.
