Scotch Transparent Duct Tape - Clear Up the Gray (spec)

Grandpa's Secrets

SFX: OPEN TO THE BEACH BOYS ”I KNOW THERE’S AN ANSWER”

YOUNG BOY: Grandpa, can you do the  quarter trick again?  (pause)  Tell me  how you do it!

GRANDPA: Kid, a true magician never reveals his tricks. If there’s one thing life has taught me, it’s that some things should be kept a secret.

YOUNG BOY: Like what?

GRANDPA: Well for one thing, never tell who you vote  for.
I guess you don’t need to know that just yet.
Hmmm let’s see...(whispers) Never let your wife know you ate the last of her pie.

YOUNG BOY: Gross. I’m never getting married!  What else?

GRANDPA: When you’re with the boys, never lose your poker face. You don’t want them to know when you’re losing.

YOUNG BOY: Yeah right, I always beat you when we play.

GRANDPA: (laughs) Another of my little secrets.

YOUNG BOY: What else??

GRANDPA: Well, there is something... You remember when you broke your mother’s vase?  I can make it look like you didn’t.

YOUNG BOY: More magic?

GRANDPA: Sort of. But this one  I can tell you. I use Scotch Transparent Duct Tape. It will keep all your little mishaps just between us.

YOUNG BOY: What does trans...trans...transp...

GRANDPA: Transparent?  Well...it means invisible. See, I  can use  this stuff  and it’s strong enough to hold anything together, but you can’t see it.

YOUNG BOY: Cool! Kind of like super powers! (pause) Hey Grandpa?  Is that Scotch stuff how you keep your teeth in?

GRANDPA: (fades out) I think it’s time for dinner...

SFX: FADE OUT BEACH BOYS SONG.
