I was always fascinated by Ben Franklin's engraving illustration featured on the back of the $100 dollar bill ever since I laid my eyes on it for the first time, I got interested in engraving illustrations since then, but since I could not get my hands dirty in the actual process due to lack of tools (I don't own a printing press, not sold anywhere where I live), coupled with the fact that I know how to use Adobe Illustrator, I thought, Hey! How about trying to simulate the engraving look using Illustrator.
So, I set out to recreate Ben Franklin's portrait starting with a hand drawn pencil sketch based on Joseph-Siffred Duplessis' original oil painting, the project took me about 5 months to finish, and two more months working on putting together a video for my YouTube channel embedded below :
