Chasing Markham Rally
As part of a celebration for a new warehouse in Markham Vale, a charity road trip around Europe was organised. As part of the in-house team I volunteered to help as much as possible, working on various elements such as a rally emblem, participant clothing, fabric patches, participant vehicle branding rules and vehicle wraps as well as other smaller tasks along the way.
Emblem
An emblem was requested to be used across all areas of the rally. The aim was to have something that was simple but also recognisable. The final design has a C on the outside and the M made to look like mountains in the centre.
A selection of concepts worked on along the way.
Merchandise
Everyone participating in the rally was provided with a custom set of clothing. This included t-shirts, hoodies, cap, bag and rain jacket. I volunteered to take the lead on this and the intent was to end up with a range of looks that were individual to the rally but also brought in influences from motorsport and adventure.
Vehicle Graphics
Another area I volunteered for was to create a section of standard graphics, and position guidelines for a set of stickers that every car on the rally would have to have. This was to ensure that there was at least a little consistency between all the cars, and that the rally sponsors were visible on every car. I also helped the internal teams create graphics to be wrapped on their cars as well.
The sections in colour are the areas that were consistent for every car on the rally. The locations were chosen to increase the likelihood of the sponsors or company info always being visible in photos.
A selection of the liveries that I designed for some of the teams.
Video for fun
After the rally we were left with quite a lot of video footage, so I put to gather a rough video so that a couple of the teams had something the could look back at after the event.
