Futuristic Video Game - Sound Design (2021)

I was tasked with creating interactive audio that was copyright-free for a level within a video game. This interactive audio was intended to serve as a portfolio piece, demonstrating my prowess in sound design and audio programming specifically for 3D video games to potential employers. The process involved designing audio assets through Wwise and subsequently linking these assets to characters, animations, objects, and events within the game scene. This integration was achieved using the C# programming language within the Unity game engine.
In the project I undertook, I created interactive audio assets for a game level and seamlessly integrated them using Unity's game editor. This demonstrated my skills in sound design and audio programming for 3D video games.

I designed diverse audio assets with Wwise, covering ambiances, events, actions, and music. These assets were strategically integrated into the game scene, tied to characters, animations, objects, and events using Unity's C# scripting.
Crafting an immersive audio environment was crucial. I layered sounds, used parameter randomization, and eliminated repetitive loops, creating a rich auditory backdrop. Sound effects were meticulously designed for in-game actions and events, enhancing player engagement.

Interactive music enhanced gameplay by sourcing suitable stems and integrating them based on player interactions. The dynamic mix balanced amplitude, frequency, and spatial cues, guiding player attention and enriching the game world.

Integration into the game engine was facilitated using Unity's editor and C# scripting. Technical documentation ensured clear comprehension of the process. A five-minute video showcased the interactive audio, supplemented by voice-over commentary and gameplay footage. A concise blog post provided context.

Comprehensive technical notes detailed each production stage. This project deepened my understanding of audio's pivotal role in player immersion and engagement within a game world, and allowed me to exhibit my skills effectively.
