Zülküf MAVLAY's profile

The Other's Eye / Ötekinin Gözünden - 2019

In his photographs, Zülküf Mavlay tries to show and make sense of urban life in motion without the human figure in its focus. By making visible the traces that people leave wherever they come into contact, but not the people themselves, he creates photographs that say things about society, politics, culture, economy, war, peace and migration.
The Eye of the Other is a humanist work aimed at solving the relationship between the concepts of “self” and “other”. The “other” eyes, which still look at the audience from the posters used in the elections, have suffered the wrath of the “self”, have been erased, excluded, divided, even torn apart. The artist emphasizes that we do not have any choice about our innate characteristics and aims to draw attention to the fact that these eyes are no different from either his own eyes or the eyes of the viewer.
