What if?...Ubuntu is available on Apple Vision Pro using Spatial UI!
I have given the home screen a fresh look, following Spatial UI design principles and added a bit of my own touch. There's a side drawer for your recent apps and another one at the bottom for all your apps. The main screen has soft edges to blend in nicely with your surroundings, making it feel lighter and more real. It's like looking through a window, giving you a glimpse of what's behind it, such as other apps or people.
If a user gazes at the side drawer app menu for more than a few seconds, it expands to a full view, displaying app names prominently.
A quick settings modal enables users to interact with essential functions such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, apps, accounts, and more.
Settings app for Ubuntu consisting of all systems settings. Users can customize the look and feel of the app here.
Added tooltip to preview description texts of each option. A tooltip appears when users gaze over an option for an extended period, let's say 3 seconds.
In this screen, I have used Spatial UI's sheets. Sheets are presented as modal views, and they appear at the center of the app. Modals contain the same Z position as the parent window. The parent window pushes back and dims. This helps focus the experience and prevents people from interacting with the parent view until the sheet is dismissed.
This is a redesigned GNOME Software app. The user interface remains similar to what we currently have in GNOME Software, but there's an updated navigation bar at the bottom of the window. This allows users to easily switch between various app categories.
Last but certainly not least, let's talk about the Terminal. The Terminal or command line interface is a crucial component of Linux software. Users can connect keyboards to their Vision Pro device for seamless interaction with the Terminal. Additionally, there's an option for a virtual keyboard in the form of a separate app. To enhance productivity, I've included shortcuts for VS Code and External Links at the bottom of the Terminal. This allows users to easily open code in VS Code or launch a local server in their web browser.

For you to explore and play around with this UI. If you intend to implement this UI in a software, please remember to provide proper credits :)
