The Red Rocks of Sedona
Sedona is an Arizona desert town. It is about 2 hours drive from Phoenix Arizona and is on highway 179 which veers off highway 17 on the way to Flagstaff. It is surrounded by red-rock buttes, steep canyon walls and pine forests.
It is about 4000 feet above sea level. This elevation imparts its mild climate. The area is a tourist attraction due to the red rocks and boasts a vibrant arts community.
The city of Sedona is relatively small in population and has numerous New Age shops, spas and art galleries. There are numerous trailheads accessing Red Rock State Park, which offers bird-watching, hiking and picnicking spots.
This collection samples just some of the beautiful red rock formations in the area.
The sunset photos are from the Sunset Point on highway I-17.
