Virgin Records had decided to release a series of music Cd compliations, organised into decades and genres in order for existing fans to buy, and also that music lovers would be able to be exposed to different genres and styles of music easily. I was to design my CD cover for 1930s Jazz. In order to create the sensual, liquid feeling of jazz I added colour to photographs to make them seem as if they were from the time, but also to create a sense of haze that is associated with music descending, the slightly dreamlike quality that comes from the seemingly sporadic and vigorous notes in jazz music.
