Metal Gear Solid Product Range

25 YEARS OF
Metal Gear Solid
2023 is 25 years of Hideo Kojima's stealth action adventure series Metal Gear Solid. The game was first released in 1998 on the Playstation to massive success. There are over 10 games in the mainline series and several remake and remasters on the way. The series is more popular than ever and the fans are starved for quality merch!

This initial product range is all based around the first game in the franchise. Solid Snake is tasked with taking out a group of mercenaries who have taken refuge on a nuclear disposal facility where the plot only thickens from there...

Set of 3 PAL keycards
This Set of 3 Replica Pal Keycards are in a faux metal display box that is meant to look like it is ripped straight from the universe. These keycards are used as part of a puzzle.  This involves arming a nuclear device and I wanted the box to look like a case these keycards would be stored in.
MEtal Gear Solid PAckaging
In the Metal Gear Solid series you have the option to sneak past enemies in a cardboard box. This has become widely known in gaming circles and I wanted to have a 'nod' to that with the packaging in the range. I created this packaging guide for Metal Gear Solid 1 with artwork from the original game featured on the front. The date of the original games release featured on the box and the foxhound logo on the side. The intention being that, when I develop the Metal Gear Solid 2 Range, I can change the colour of the bottom bar to blue (the game arts primary colour) The artwork to MGS 2 specific art and the date on the front to the second games release. This all while keeping the core elements the same for the base packaging. It can be updated as we make our way through the games series and keep the consistency, but with fresh designs for every game.

This Desk pad and Coaster set is based on the games radio system that is used to communicate with many characters. The specific radio frequency on this Desk Pad is from the back of the first games box and showed you some unique dialogue with a character. Konami gave us the original portrait from the game, but all other elements had the be recreated with exacting detail using photoshop and Illustrator. The Coaster is based on the games radar system that would show the player character in an area and enemies view cones.
The entire product range is designed by fans, for fans. We held regular meetings with team members who love the series as well as talking to fans outside of the company to see if we were heading in the right direction for the range. Featuring product replica's, faction logos, character coins, radar and radio iconography. There is something in here that even the most hardcore of fan can love.
