True Branding Buro's profile

Molodist `47 movie fest identity

About the brand

"Molodist" translates as "the youth" and is an iconic international film festival that usually takes place annually in autumn in Kyiv since 1970.

The task

To display the special teaser event of the new film festival in a creative and visually attractive form. To develop a complex visual identity design using the Key Visual technique:

     • Creation of a series of informative posters;
     • The main poster concept development;
     • Adaptation of the main visual for external and internal advertising;
     • Creation of a multi-page catalog;
     • Corporate elements design development.

The goal

To present a large-scale film festival as the main cultural event of Ukraine in the best possible way — to show the international film community the modernity and conformity of our country to European standards.

The customer's priorities: each visual should look trendy and be ideologically "strong"at the same time and carry an informational message, reflecting the iconicic status and symbolism of the festival.

The process

We created an idea with capital letters — the name of each program of the festival is symbolized by the letter with which the word begins. Since half of the programs have English names, we translated the others and used Latin capital letters for unity of style.

"Freedom" poster concept

The blue color is most associated with freedom according to surveys and analysis.

We created an idea of using different elements on deer horns. Now it is a barbed wire from which the deer is breaking free.
All elements, except for the deer, are graphics, made in watercolor style.

Each program used the same deer, but in different poses, corresponding to the idea of the program. The proud pose is longing for freedom now.

Sunny Bunny poster concept

The yellow color is the closest in association with the Sun.

The horns now have an abstract sun with rays of light.
The familiar deer covers his eyes from the light of the Sun

"Molodist for kids" poster concept

Green color was used as a symbol of birth, the color of young leaves and everything that is starting.

Two small deer were used for this program, very young and extremely cute.

"National" poster concept

We decided not to use yellow and blue, so that we won't be repetitive,
red was used as the color of the poppy.

The horns now have poppies, as one of the floral symbols of Ukraine.

"International" poster concept

The purple color serves as a symbol of dignity, greatness, luxury.

Deer horns are an outline of the world map here.

"Spring Around" poster concept

The element in the horns is delicate watercolor flowers and twigs in this concept, and they are associated with spring. Gentle pink color and flowers similar to sakura evoke an association with the awakening of the earth from snow and the blossoming of spring.

End results

After the entire concept and visuals approval, we proceeded to the creation and layout of polygraphy: a multi-page catalog, programs and leaflets. We also developed the whole festival design (posters, banners, signs, billboards, stands and other branded equipment for advertising and decoration of the festival halls).

Thank you for your attention and let's work together!
