Electric Scooter- Mobility Design

This is a self-initiated project aimed at understanding electric mobility in India and across the globe primarily focusing on the 2-wheeler electric kick scooter. Overall this project gave the exposure to learn the market and product both in terms of design and technology, the CMF and latest design technologies .

Getting familiar with the industry

To get hold of the context, product and the industry i did a thorough desk research to understand both the product from a zoomed in lens to get a depth of its components.

Then the next thing to learn was the major brands in the market and how they are performing further who they are targeting and their demographics.

Knowing the Audience

To understand the problems and the value proposition in the existing brand scooters. I did a review study of the existing customers of these brands and focused on understanding their experience from the scooters they bought. It later helped me to make better choices and avoid the mistakes made by these brands.

Setting the CMF

Carefully curated the mood-board which matches with the taste of our target audience, also combines with the product's form language and features well.

Ideation Phase

The ideation phase was done in two ways:

1.The first was in terms of the features and technology which was more towards the technical side.

2. The second was in terms of its design and form language.

The approach was to look for current trends and market setters and consider that as a baseline to design our electric scooter for it to stand out and be at the forefront.

Final Design

This phase showcases the design, its form and features in totality.

The backlight is designed to serve multiple purpose as it can be used as a normal backlight in white mode, the yellow mode can be used a blinker to showing which direction you are turning your vehicle and finally the red mode when you pull the brakes.
