Re-Designing an urban block in Irbid City
We were asked to choose one site of 3 given ones and then analyze, diagnose, and study this specific urban block to highlight the problems and issues, so we re-design this block to make it resilient to (UHI), an urban heat island, an attempt to reduce mitigate the impacts of the global warming and climate change.
Climate change and how it effects urban design:
Urban heat island effect
Urban heat island effect
We chose a residential urban block, analyzed and came up with the issues, problems, and potentials, and this was the first phase .
Phase two was about implementing the strategies we came up with in phase one.
Our sustainable strategies was on 3 main aspects A) Food, B) Water, and C) Energy to make the block Self-Sufficient based on these three aspects.
In phase three we were asked to choose one strategy of the strategies we came up with in phase two to emphasize and work further on it.
In phase two we chose the green roofs of the Food aspect so in this phase we studied them further and put the data we collected in a handbook we made, and here are the results.
