Green pockets integration

The study conducted in Gemayze Street, Beirut, focused on the creation of sustainable urban pockets in the form of terraces on building rooftops. Three specific locations were selected for this purpose, emphasizing the potential for integrating green spaces in an urban context. The choice of terraces on building rooftops aligns with sustainable urban design principles, offering opportunities for environmental, social, and aesthetic enhancements.
Green pockets on terraced roofs, often featuring materials like wood louvers, represent a sustainable and aesthetically pleasing approach to urban design. These rooftop green spaces incorporate wooden louvers, which serve multiple purposes. First, the louvers provide shading, helping to regulate temperature and create comfortable seating areas. The use of wood not only adds a natural and warm aesthetic but also aligns with sustainable practices when sourced responsibly. The seated and covered areas contribute to the overall usability of the rooftop, offering residents or visitors spaces for relaxation and social interaction. In addition to the environmental benefits, such as temperature regulation and stormwater management, these green pockets enhance the visual appeal of urban landscapes, creating harmonious and functional spaces within the built environment.
