Recently I got a university assignment to create a poster for an internationally famous movie festival based in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic.
As you can see, every year's poster seems to differ quite a lot.
One that certainly gained more popularity than the others was this one. Yep, it's a pig! The people loved it because of its simplicity and humor...
Anyways, as almost every graphics designer, I went to Pinterest to gather some needed inspiration.
After scrolling for some time, I began to notice that some posters have the same certain elements that perfectly matched my vibe.
It was the person with a film accessory instead of their head, I thought it was hilarious and perfect at the same time.
A guy with a clapper head? Hmmm... what could this event be about?
That was it! Okay, but what should the character be wearing? KVIFF is a kind of prestigious event so I thought a shirt and a tie would be the best and safest choice.
And so I searched for the appropriate stock photo, slapped it into Adobe Illustrator, and let it do its magic converting the photo into sketch art.
Just a few tweaks and here we go... we got our mascot.
I wanted the informative text to be formatted into a box paragraph. I guess the spacing could be a tad bit better but I still have so much to learn in typography.
Lastly, I put the address to KVIFF website in the top right corner and the logo of the Ministry of Culture in the opposite.
