Breakthroughs in this field enabled them to continue working on new weapon systems that could neutralize NATO's ELINT. The most secret of these projects was autonomous ASAT complex 2K20 "Луч"
The development of this Anti-Satellite Weapons based on new physical principles (Оружие на новых физических принципах) began in 1965 in the USSR but was halted in 1991 due to a lack of funding. Further research and development continued in top secrecy in 2005 after the Russian President signed a decree. The laser module 2K20 "Луч" / NATO reporting name (God Ray) was finalized during early 2023, and final testing was finished the following year. It was integrated onto the Autonomous Vehicle Platform - "Долгоног" - NATO reporting name "Strider".
The Autonomous Vehicle Platform - "Долгоног" is an 8×8 MZKT-9000 ASTROLOG-2M truck with integrated optoelectronic sensors of a new generation - navigation is possible through both GPS and GLONASS, some sources report that exact coordinates of targets are obtained threw SFERA constellation of military satellites.
During the same period, efforts to integrate - nuclear-powered, nuclear-armed cruise missiles, the successor of 9M730 Burevestnik - 9M830-M "Буря" - were successful, NATO reporting name "Check Mate".
