This animation is created for Jenius's motion graphic contest for the landing page UI. There are two options for the theme :Valentine's day or Birthday. I want to try my hands at this challenge so I chose Valentine's day for my animation entry so I brainstormed some ideas starting from pencil sketches. A lot of ideas come to mind but given the constraints of small design area (158 x 124 px) plus loading time I must be mindful with my motion design. Two final ideas materialized into styleframes.
First Concept: Shape of Love
This idea is inspired by the long and hard process of love coming into fruition. Sometimes the 'edges' must be chipped away for the shape of love to be formed. Even after the struggle something beautiful comes out in the end.
Second Concept : The Moon is Pretty Tonight
The inspiration for this is actually pretty silly. In Japanese media (anime and video games), it's often implied that gazing at the moon together and saying "the moon is pretty tonight" is an indirect declaration of love. So I put together the image of lovers gazing at the beauty of the moon simplified into cats.
