Charge Holder
The idea of the Charge Holder is to create a phone holder that could both stand on a table and hold the phone while charging. Some plugs are out of place and not near a table or a comfortable place to leave the phone. Therefore the Charge Holder could be a good solution to charge the phone and keep it stable in a good place. On the back of the holder is a hole meant for an adapter. The hole is designed so that an adapter can fit right in it, both in a vertical and horizontal position, keeping the holder stable. The user may as well use the holder on a table. Keeping the phone in a comfortable position to charge. The support underneath the holder has a gap in the middle, leaving a space for the charger to be plugged in while the phone is positioned in the Charge Holder.
Concept
The concept is a useful item with a solution to the problem of charging a phone when the plug is out of place. Many homes were designed before the smartphone revolution. Therefore, the plugs were often placed near the floor or in other places that were not considered for smartphones. The Charging holder keeps the phone on a surface that is ideal for a smartphone.
One of the challanges was to draw by hand the todal design and show measures. Since this was the classes first project, there were not a lot of reqierments.
Prototype
The purpose of the prototype was to show the structure and the measures. Therefore I choose to use cardboard as the main material for the prototype. The prototype was meant to show the class and explain the idea briefly.
I chose to use cardboard as a material for the prototype because it would only be displayed in front of the class for a few minutes. Given this short display time, the prototype didn't need to be durable or long-lasting. Therefore, using a biodegradable material like cardboard was appropriate.
Demonstration
Here below is a demonstration of how the “charge holder” is in use. The adapter fits right through the hole in the back of it and the lower part is not only useful to set the phone holder in a table, but also to wind the cable arround it when the holder is in use on a wall.
