Udo's African Food Store

Logo
2011
I created the logo mostly on my own with manager and client feedback. Udo's is located on University Avenue in Saint Paul, MN.  The bunch of plantains (not bananas) was the most appropriate because that is what is sold the most. Uses plantains a popular west African ingredient to appetize the customer. Using a grocery food shows that it is a place that sells food in the unprepared manner.

The colors yellow, orange, and green are chosen from the combination of flags from the countries in west Africa. The brown is chosen to match the root of the plantain. RED, Brown, and green are colors known to be an appetite stimulant.

The word “UDO’s” is prominent so that it highlights the most unique word in the title that will make it easy for the customer to remember. “African food store” is justified below vertically to create a rectangular shape.
Business Card
2011
Business card I also created secondly after approval of the logo.
Window Graphics Series of 5
A series of window graphics that were designed to go on 5 different windows at the same height, creating an implied line showing that all those windows were for his business and not to be confused with his neighbors. They feature 10 items: Some of them the exotic ones that make his store known but others are things that you wouldn't know that you could go to just simply for milk and eggs to appeal to new customers.
Photoshop Mock-ups
Photoshop Mock-Ups presented to client for window graphics.

Window Pattern
A window pattern to fill up a large window. It never got used in the final product, but I designed a pattern out of the logo.
