To aid in showing off the garment designs I’ve created, and to aid in pitching concepts to potential clients, fast and easy mock-up documents are a big help. This is an example of one I created using Affinity Designer.

The image of a front and back of a t-shirt was generated in Midjourney AI. Using that image as a base, I added some Artboards and other application elements to create the mock-up behavior. The benefit of doing it this way is the ability to make adjustments and view them in real time. The attached YouTube video is a demo of the file in action.

There are plenty of subscription based mock-up template sites on the market that can be used to create all sorts of compelling mock-up images for almost every idea. The problems I find with that method: the sometimes overwhelming number of choices that are just right, that can eat hours of creative deadline time while sifting through them, and the approximate $30/month price tag per platform in order to keep all that almost at the ready. Being able to take image I photograph/generate/already have, and turn it into a mock-up via the software I’m already using, is a massive time and energy saver. On top of that, it’s a way to keep my own collection of favorite mock-ups on hand without having to maintain a subscription in order to access them.
