Monotypes from the Face series where primarily created in aquarell technique. Starting point of the project was study of my face in different moods and notation of changes in face expression. There was a tendency to avoid classical auto portrait and to emphasize constancy and autonomy of the face as a bearer of meaning.

Drawings became like a reflection in a mirror, the only way to perceive ourselves from the outside, and also from the inside, because we are not capable to do it so objectivly and directly as others can.

Only trace is left of the self-knowledge, an indirect impression. In my work there is need to literally encompass souch an impression, like a separation of the whole, one microcosm constituting of eyes, nose and mouth, and to print it on the blanck piece of paper.

In the technique of monotype there was a possibility to make a gost images that refer to echoes of the image, gradualy fading of the impression.
