Nihonga Website Design

My assignment was to create a 5-page website about an art movement of my choice. I loved the Japanese art style of Nihonga, which often incorporates earthy colour palettes and a deep respect for nature. I wanted my design to stay consistent with these qualities so I made use of a minimalistic layout that made the artwork the main focus rather than the design of the website itself.
The landing page is the only scrollable page on the website. I wanted to introduce the Nihonga art style slowly, infusing a sense of movement inspired by the featured full-screen art piece by Takeuchi Seihō.
The main earthy green is complimented by a light pink, used sparingly throughout the website. This harmonious colour scheme not only enhances the overall aesthetic but also ensures that important content is highlighted, creating a balanced and engaging user experience.
