BRIEF
I was invited by the DTIC to design ANY item of furniture incorporating lighting that must be both
practical and highlight your design. The furniture type can be any item of furniture for any use. The
judges would like to see creativity, design and authenticity play a big role in what is developed.
My design should focus on the following:
• Incorporated lighting must be both practical and must highlight the features of your design.
• The incorporated lighting must be both seamless and feel like IT WAS ALWAYS meant to be
there.
• Aesthetics, proportions, ergonomics, practicality, and ease of production are key elements.
• Try keep materials local and sustainable - and focus on telling the South African story.
