Surge Energy Mockup.

This project is for a mockup of my Advanced Logo Design course at Udemy. These clients "manufacture non-caffeine energy drinks and gels."

Key points that separate them from competitors are the following:
"Our products contain Taurine and Vitamin B6 to promote energy. This negates all common side effects, such as post-lethargy, anxiety, etc., associated with products that contain caffeine."

The logo will be used in product packaging, marketing material, and websites. It should be a simple, recognizable symbol. Preferably, a circular one should express speed and motion.
Their three main competitors are Red Bull, Monster, and Rockstar, which hold their own very well in the energy drink market.

Another helpful statement from this company is as follows:

"Our logo should fit well within the market with the common ‘fierce’ vibe to reflect the energy aspect. At the same time, it would be ideal to project a feeling of reliability and trustworthiness, being a safer product free of energy. With this in mind, it should carry a greater degree of formality - almost a hint of a ‘clinical’ feel, without being overbearing in edginess."
The first competitor I gathered information on was Red Bull, whose five best sellers are the largest ones they must compete with.
Monster and their five best-sellers followed them.

I created two mood boards. The first one is where I decided to add Surge's three competitors. The second was  to inspire the logo itself
"The Mind Map" helps you empty your mind of all your sketching ideas on how you might create an absolute logo.
After sketching swooping winged spheres with motion lines behind them, I decided to go with more of a "Nike" logo. I then added three spheres inside the wings in a curved manner and removed the motion lines. I decided to keep the "doctor mirror" for a clinical feel, which can double as a halo.
For this logo, the "Golden Ratio" was used in its final structure.
For colors, the client wanted red and silver. Silver is a metal, not a color, so I used shades of grey and black in a gradient to resemble metal.
My final decision was to incorporate the third log's red and the first silver metallic gradient. I also added some smooth edges to the right edges of the wings to reduce the "edginess."
