For this project, the challenge was to either create our own brand for a store, or re-design an existing brand for a store. I chose to create mine from scratch and make a store that not only sells various forms of art and products made by creators, but to also be geared towards helping creators get a start on their dreams. It is both a storefront, and online store. I went with the name "Starting Artists" because it is not only self explanatory, but it is also meant to go against the term "starving artist".
As for my process, I started out building the brand by making the logo, figuring out the theme, and of course picking a color palette. I went with a more neutral color palette this time because I didn't want the brand of the store to take away from the art inside or online. It also gives it a calm feeling which I thought was suiting to the overall goal of the store; which is to help make artists'/creators' dreams come true!
After I got the brand down, it was time to start making all the stuff to bring this vision alive. I felt that making a landing page for the site was essential as a way to give artists' the choice of selling their products remotely or in store. The site is also a way for people to learn more about what this store does, how to join, and to discover up and coming artists.
Of course this store was going to need some signage, so I made a storefront sign to also give people an idea on what this store sells.
I decided it would be fun to do some animation to one of the logos and it would be a learning experience for me. I wanted the animation to have a magical fun feeling to it that helped push the idea that this is where dreams come true.
Even though this store's main focus is to help artists get started, it also wants to help art collectors find new forms of art that they haven't been able to find before.
