Glorious Grids

For this project based in Layout & Composition, our task was to recreate an image of a specific animal using only specific shapes. We were required to create low, medium, and high poly resolutions of the composition. The assignment was to find an image of an animal, and sketch two variations each for a low, medium, and high poly version, then take those sketches into illustrator and make compositions from them.
Sketches
Above are the poly variation sketches, going left to right in low, medium, and high. My main focus was to capture the overall shape for the bat, so that anybody viewing my composition would be able to tell what animal it is.
Final Compositions
These were my final compositions put together for the assignment, from low to high poly being displayed left to right. My attempt was to add more detail in not only the bat, but the background as well with each poly composition. And below is the reference image I used for this whole assignment.
