Patient Companion App

Overview
Oak Street Health is a network of value-based primary care centers for adults on Medicare. Oak Street Health currently operates more than 130 centers across 20 states and is the only primary care provider to carry the AARP name.

Problem
When patients arrive at the Oak Health Center, they have no idea what they are going to be doing or who they are interacting with outside of their primary care provider (PCP). We want to give patients more insight into what their visit with us will be like.

Goal
Design a tablet application that will allow patients to view their health journey before the visit starts, view educational information, or look at their vitals.

My Role
I was the Lead UI Designer and was responsible for UI design, accessibility research, style guide, and prototype.

Wireframes
My first task was to get accumulated with the wireframes that were created by another designer. I heavily referenced these wireframes as I was creating the UI.
Accessibility Research
Having the knowledge that our target audience has multiple comorbidities, I set out to learn and understand what accessibility needs and considerations our users would require in the tablet app. These are some resources I referenced to gain insight into accessibility needs for users with vision and mobility challenges.

Inspiration
Using sites such as Pinterest and Dribble, I gathered inspiration before deciding on a visual direction.
UI Style Guide
Utilizing some of the colors from the existing color palette, I created a style guide that adhered to the accessibility needs of an older audience.
Clickable Prototype
Here is the prototype I maintained throughout the design process. With each design decision I made, I continuously switched between "Design" and "Prototype" modes to preview how that decision would impact the user's interaction with the app.
