The 2024 Winter Youth Olympics, officially known as the IV Winter Youth Olympic Games and commonly known as Gangwon 2024, were a winter multi-sport event, cultural festival, and fourth edition of the Winter Youth Olympics held between 19 January and 1 February 2024 in Gangwon Province, South Korea.
The medal design competition for the Winter Youth Olympic Games Gangwon 2024 is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for artists to showcase their talent and have their design featured at the international event.
The competition, which takes place over five weeks, invites participants from all over the world to design the obverse (front) of the medal, inspired by the values of the Winter YOG.
Concept of YOUTH ICON
I want to showcase a new Youth icon, which has a resemblance to the Olympics, with the concept of Grow Together Shine Together.
Created a Youth icon based on the Olympic logo (resembling the Olympics) and combined it all together (Grow together shine together).
In addition, the Youth icon represents the Beauty of each game, as well as the way players bloom as they compete. Based on the idea that the central circle is their head and the ring around them is their body.
In all winter games, we see each player's focus and balance (the center circle).
Medal Design
The background of the medal design depicts the environment of Gangwon (land, snow, wind, sky) where the Olympic event took place.
