Rachel Silhan's profile

Portfolio Booklet

As a final project in Advanced Design Software, I utilized every tool I learned that semester (Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign) to create a portfolio booklet aimed at showcasing my creative work in a way that truly reflected my artistic identity. It required hours of planning, working with multiples of four, ensuring optimal printing and layout possibilities. This structure allowed for a cohesive presentation of my work, with each spread designed to complement the overall flow of the booklet. To give some indication of my own design personality, I chose a color palette dominated by soft creams that give a sense of warmth. The use of imperfect edges, imitating torn paper, added a tactile and handmade feel, inviting viewers to engage with the physicality of the booklet. I also incorporated halftone images of myself along with a freeform gradient technique I love, to give color and dynamic touch to the visuals. This technique brought depth and texture to the photographs, harmonizing them with the overall aesthetic of the booklet.
