The PUTTO JORDI toy is a celebration of Catalan culture, a call to give visibility and importance to our tradition.

Putti (plural of putto in Italian) are cherubic figures depicted as naked or semi-naked babies with small wings on their backs.

Commonly, the figure of Cupid is represented in the form of a putto, thus distinguishing it from traditional angels. Putti lack sex and gender and, from a pagan context, have come to hold significant importance in European traditions.

However, in Catalonia, we celebrate love throughout Sant Jordi's day (April 23rd). With the figure of PUTTO JORDI, we aim to portray a wounded Cupid with a rose. The rose is presumably the symbol of our day, and in this way, we want to emphasize the importance of our own tradition over those imported from around the world.

La figura del PUTTO JORDI és una reivindicació de la cultura catalana, un reclam per a donar importància a la nostra tradició.

Els putti (plural de putto en italià), són angelets representats en cossos de nadons mig nus i amb dues petites ales a la seva esquena.

Comunment, la figura de Cupido es representa en forma de putto, diferenciant-lo així dels àngels tradicionals. Els putti careixen de sexe i de gènere i, des de l'àmbit pagà, han arribat a tenir molta importància a les tradicions europees.

Tot i això, a Catalunya, per celebrar l'amor tenim la nostra diada de Sant Jordi. Des d'UNMUN, amb la figura del Putto Jordi, volem mostrar un Cupido ferit per una rosa. La rosa és, presumiblement, el símbol de la nostra diada i d'aquesta manera volem plasmar la importància de la nostra pròpia tradició.
