Cada artista possui uma maneira de fazer seus projetos. Algumas vezes acabamos mudando o processo, mas mostrarei aqui meu processo de criação de uma ilustração que uso como base. Mostrarei, como exemplo, um desenho feito para meu aniversário de 19 anos.
Each artist has a way of making their projects. Sometimes we end up changing the process, but I'll show you here my process of creating an illustration that I use as a base. I will show you, as an example, a drawing made for my 19th birthday.
A ideia que tive foi uma ilustração em que eu pudesse usar como foto de perfil em qualquer lugar, pois usava ilustrações bem antigas minhas. Queria algo que mostrasse um pouco da minha personalidade e que fosse simples ao mesmo tempo. Decidi usar meu próprio rosto para fazer o desenho (geralmente uso minha personagem para me representar), então fiz uma cópia para entender os formatos.
The idea was an illustration that I could use as a profile photo anywhere, as I used very old illustrations of mine. I wanted something that showed a little of my personality and was simple at the same time. I decided to use my own face to make the drawing (I usually use my character to represent myself), so I made a copy to understand the formats.
Então eu passo para a lineart e para as cores base. Também incluo um pouco de sombra e um leve avermelhado para certas áreas como base. Isso ajuda a não deixar as cores totalmente chapadas e dá um efeito legal mais pra frente.
Then I move on to the lineart and the base colors. I also include a little of shadow and a slight reddish for certain areas as a base. This helps to not make the colors completely flat and gives a cool effect later on.
Agora vamos para as sombras e iluminações de fato! è um processo um tanto entediante, mas vale a pena no final. Além disso, tem que prestar bem atenção na anatomia do rosto (ou em qualquer outra coisa que esteja fazendo) para as sombras não ficarem estranhas ou em lugares errados.
Now let's get to the actual shadows and lighting! It's a somewhat tedious process, but it's worth it in the end. Furthermore, you have to pay close attention to the anatomy of the face (or anything else you are doing) so that the shadows do not appear strange or in the wrong places.
Tenho dificuldade na iluminação, geralmente é nessa fase que começa a dar problema, mas com paciência e persistência consigo bons resultados. Coloco iluminação no rosto e no cabelo, é quando coloco uns detalhes para criar contraste em algumas áreas.
I have difficulty with lighting, it is usually at this stage that problems start, but with patience and persistence I can achieve good results. I add lighting to the face and hair, that's when I add some details to create contrast in some areas.
Pequenos detalhes fazem a diferença! Colocar fios de cabelo desordenados trazem dinamismo e realismo ao desenho, até porque cabelo naturalmente não fica completamente arrumado (e fica fofo).
Small details make a difference! Placing disordered strands of hair brings dynamism and realism to the drawing, especially because hair naturally isn't completely tidy (and looks cute).
A iluminação de fundo pode trazer tridimensionalidade à ilustração, como se houvesse vários pontos de luz na imagem (vindos de trás ou das laterais, e como no exemplo, pode deixá-la mais colorida). É um efeito lindo para adicionar ao seu trabalho, mas você precisa ter prática, pois às vezes pode ser complicado.
Background lighting can bring three-dimensionality to the illustration, as if there were several points of light in the image (coming from behind or from the sides, and as in the example, it can make it more colorful). It's a beautiful effect to add to your work, but you need to have practice as it can be complicated at times.
Para finalizar, eu mudo a cor do fundo, pois o preto trás o destaque que eu queria para a imagem. Adicionei também esses pequenos desenhos ao redor do meu rosto, como se fossem um filtro do Instagram e um efeito desfocado com cores distorcidas.
To finish, I change the background color, as black brings the highlight I wanted to the image. I also added these small drawings around my face, as if they were an Instagram filter and a blurred effect with distorted colors.
