Design Project - Blunderbuss

Driven by a passion for gaming preservation and a desire to enhance our skillsets, my friend and I embarked on a collaborative project in 2023.

The concept? A game launcher that would revolutionize accessibility, offering a central hub for playing and tracking progress across an expansive library.

This vision, fueled by the belief in video games as a vital entertainment medium worthy of preservation, culminated in the creation of Blunderbuss.

While my collaborator tackles the project's backend, I spearhead the user interface design. We arrived at a striking red and purple color scheme after exploring various palettes to achieve a distinctive aesthetic. Prioritizing user experience, the launcher boasts a streamlined navigation bar and a clean interface, ensuring effortless interaction. To foster a sense of universality, I drew inspiration from prominent game launchers and console designs.
These high-fidelity wireframes represent my vision for the complete beta build. While the backend development is underway, I'm continuously honing my design skills in preparation for the prototyping and testing phase. This stage will be crucial for gathering user feedback and refining the launcher before its potential release.

While crucial features like cross-platform game import, cloud storage integration, and robust user communication are still under development, I'm confident these challenges can be overcome through thorough research and creative solutions. Prior to initiating usability testing, we'll prioritize resolving these core functionalities to ensure a seamless user experience.

Designed with user experience at the forefront, Blunderbuss leverages the power of Figma for its core structure, with select assets receiving an extra touch in Adobe Photoshop. The initial iteration focused on establishing core functionalities, allowing users to effortlessly add games to their library and track playtime.

A huge shoutout to my collaborator, Ali Alizada, whose dedication to the backend development has been instrumental in bringing Blunderbuss to life.

Projects like this allow me to refine my design skills while simultaneously demonstrating the potential of Blunderbuss to revolutionize the way we access and experience our game libraries. I'm constantly iterating on the design, and any feedback you have is incredibly valuable.

Until next time, see you on future projects.
Thank you for your time.
