Brief and Introduction

In this project, students design a smartwatch clock app tailored to the needs of a specific user group or scenario. By focusing on a particular profession or hobby, students employ user experience design principles to create an app that not only tells time on a smartwatch, but also enhances the user's experience of time through thoughtful, user-centered design.

The Cheer Up App is a method of simple communication between a school age child with Type 1 Diabetes, the kid’s parents, and teacher. The app has a simple method of sending stickers, to communicate simple messages in case of this very common incident of the Blood Glucose going LOW. Cheer Upp uses a timer for some features, alerts that the child can see as well as parents.

The challenge of the app is to make it simple while at the same time make better decisions and good communication to handle a situation fast and efficiently. The main user of the app is the child who depends on the parent and the teacher to make informed decisions regarding taking insulin for Diabetes. While the child cannot make decisions yet, both parent and teacher need to know how the child is feeling to treat a possible LOW blood sugar event and to prevent or deal with an emergency.
