Como seres humanos hemos buscado siempre las formas de expresar nuestras interpretaciones del mundo, las máscaras son una muestra de cómo a lo largo del tiempo y en diferentes civilizaciones se ha plasmado el interés de la humanidad por conectar lo terrenal con lo divino, formando así nuestro legado.
As human beings we have always looked for ways to express our interpretations of the world. Masks are an example of how, over time and in different civilizations, humanity's interest in connecting the earthly with the divine has been expressed, thus forming our legacy.
La historia en Ecuador nos enseña como las costas esmeraldeñas fueron el punto de encuentro con el éxodo africano (Bantú y Yoruba) con quienes ya habitaban esas tierras, los Cayapas y otros grupos humanos, surgiendo de esta forma un entrelazamiento de personas que dio origen al sincretismo afroecuatoriano.
History in Ecuador teaches us how the Emerald coasts were the meeting point with the African exodus (Bantú and Yoruba) with those who already inhabited those lands, the Cayapas and other human groups, thus arising an intertwining of people that gave rise to the Afro-Ecuadorian syncretism.
