This saw was Ryobi's very first product to utilize a brushless motor. This motor combined with Ryobi's 40 Volt lithium pack delivers truly amazing performance outpacing many of its gas powered competitors. Optimizing the air flow for this new technology was part of the development alongside the ergonomics and implementing the brand language.  We discovered that by placing the battery behind the motor and in front of the rear hand, not only did the saw take on the proportions of a gas saw, but we were able to achieve a perfect center of gravity optimizing comfort during use.
