Touch Type is a series of 26 tactile letterforms that have been crafted from different materials and techniques. The series is an exploration into materiality and the processes of creating tangible type to make us realise that tactility is an important part of communication.
 
Ever since digital typesetting in the 80’s, type has become more ephemeral and less substantial; being set on one screen and shown on another. As Karrie Jacobs puts it in the book ‘3D Typography’, “type is on its way out” – it’s become ‘untethered’ from paper and is now seen & viewed more than being felt and experienced.
