We were given a mark-making project in painting. We started off by using different ways of creating shape and texture with paint, such as using found materials (cups, rags etc). We then scaled up parts of our paintings into colour.
I liked the first painting I did, using a paint scraper to drag paint down the paper, this was my favourite and was inspired by Gerhard Richtor. I then decided to create a set of 4 seasons inspired paintings using this paint-dragging technique. I started with spring and worked through the seasons creating an A1 painting for each one.
The technique of dragging paint over other paint gives the paintings a nice depth to them and makes them unique in the fact that it would be very hard to recreate them.
