80's Rock Icon Caricatures

A series of seven caricatures with rock icons from the 80’s (eighties), where the various existing types of caricature are analyzed using diverse techniques (rotring pen, chinese ink, wooden pencils, watercolor, graphite, acrylic and digital).

Alice Cooper (naturalistic style)

Alice Cooper (chinese ink).

A “naturalistic” style of caricature where the proportions are presented in natural size,

representing rather an idealized image of the object portrayed.

Cyndi Lauper (imitation style)

A caricature style of “imitation”, where we’d be talking more of an imitation rather than a caricature.

Axl Rose (emphatic style)

It's an "emphatic" caricature style where the physical characteristics are enlarged or made smaller, maintaining nonetheless the balance without looking too exaggerated or grotesque-like.

Robert Smith (simplified style)

A “simplified” caricature style where the face is portrayed with minimal expression, in contour lines and without too much detail, not losing, however, resemblance.

An “anthropomorphic” caricature style, where the caricatures portrayed assume the form of animals or objects.

A “grotesque” caricature style, where the facial features are distorted in the extreme to the point of altering the whole face.

Iggy Pop (parody style)

Iggy Pop (digital).

A caricature style of “parody”, where the facial proportions are more or less true to the original, distorting though the caricature in a humoristic and funny way.
