Syfy Channel Rebrand

From a list of 8 potential channels to rebrand I chose the Syfy channel as I felt that it needed a rebrand most. I wanted to create a more fun and inviting feel for the channel as sci fi is a very niche market and can be intimidating to an everyday audience. My first change was to the channel name and logo, I decided that the brand worked better as 'Sci Fi' than 'Syfy'. I used the old logo to base the newer, more refined logo on.

Using the logo above I created the new logo that I used throughout the project.

From here I decided that a bright and bold colour pallette would help create the fun and inviting mood that I was going for, I settled on these 6 colours:

Using the top 3 colours as my primary and the bottom as secondary I created the colour scheme for the project.

The concept of the rebrand focused on circles and symmetry. I found that using circles that centred on screen really draws the eye in and keeps the viewer interested.

Circles spinning or flipping is a reoccuring theme throughout the peice as it is a simple yet effective way of adding life to a simple circle. It is also how I kept all of the seperate components of the project tied together.
The ident is based on popular science fiction, using likenesses, logos and icons from well known works of science fiction.

Turret (Portal)
Gipsy Danger (Pacific Rim)
Starship Enterprise (Star Trek)

The required deliverables for this project were:
15 second ident
3 second break bumper
Animated channel bug
Menu boards
Lower Third

I have compiled all of these element into a montage video which showcases the project in its entirity.
Each of the deliverables conforms with the overall aesthetic of the peice. This has given my project a proffesional look and feel which I am very proud of.
