Books have always played pivotal point in human life. From the Stone Age primitive humans captured their thoughts by carving on the stone. This evolved over centuries to paper books as the primary source of information covering wide range of different topics. Culture of reading books has always been valued and encouraged.

With the introduction of e-books, I believe in the future the traditional printed books will be available in limited editions and turn into valuable and culturally respectful gifts or decorative objects.

In this design traditional books and the decorative aspect have come together. Hafez was a famous Iranian poet with more than 500 poems which are widely referenced and enjoyed worldwide in over 50 languages. I chose his poems for the content of my concept. I used Farsi alphabets for the basis of my design as I want to promote Farsi alphabets and design a new 3D typography. Each letter in its special typeface called Nastaligh is turned into a sculpture and each dimension and surface captures Hafez poems.

Primarily this special design of Nastaligh typeface will reflect the Hafez signature typeface and fluidity whilst each surface of the sculpture can contain his poems in any language. This softness and fluidity can be used as a tool for smoothing cultural and civilizations due to soft and peaceful nature of the poems. These objects can be decorative and sustainable and can be used in parks or museums, whilst can act as ambassador for the Iranian culture and language.
