Hornet was a idea I made up for a red wine and wine bottle design. Hornet is a spiced Asian red wine with a hint of honey (14% ALC.) My idea for this design came from the thought of wines I've tasted and what flavors sounded good and a little unnatural to me. I wanted to have a topic that made since as a wine and served the purpose of making it a 14% ALC. content which was simply, to make a drink that made one feel the effects of alcohol. When I began my research I found the perfect icon for my design.
My research lead me to discover the Japanese Hornet, a hornet the size of a person’s palm. Also known as a yak killer and known for many injuries to people in Japan. I figured there couldn’t be any better symbolism than a Japanese hornet when thinking about someone that may want to feel the effects of alcohol and get "messed up". The design of the logo was done to signify a hornet’s bottom half and stinger done in the style of Japanese calligraphy.
