Ἐν ἀρχῇ ἦν ὁ λόγος (In the beginning was the word). I have always been inspired by this phrase, that is why I decided to investigate "the beginning" by creating the word (logos) from the smallest and simplest organisms: bacteria. I chose two oldest written language systems I can read and write in: ancient Greek and Chinese. Having found the translation of logos in the New Testament in Chinese, I came up with 话语. I used three methods to write with bacteria: handwriting with a mop, using stencils and scratching on the agar. I took me three weeks in Biofilia laboratory (Aalto University) to grow all my samples in the incubator.
