“Warped Beauty”
Class Assignment: Figurative Sculpture. This piece was part of our sculpture unit, and the idea was to create a figurative piece that fits within a self-chosen theme. My theme focused on the standards of beauty, and our perception of what is or is not considered "beautiful." Because butterfly wings represent vibrancy and beauty in art, the broken butterfly wings is a physical representation of the "death of beauty."

“Jewelry Tree”
Class Assignment: Functional Sculpture. This piece was part of our sculpture unit, and the idea was to create a functional piece that fits within a self-chosen theme. My theme focused on the standards of beauty, and our perception of what is or is not considered "beautiful." This sculpture is perceived as a gnarled and rather ominous looking tree, but it holds beautiful necklaces, bracelets and rings.
